Cabinets up, stairs started

We just got back from a wonderful weekend with Lee's parents. As of Friday, they will be officially retired! Yeah! Their school and community put on a fabulous farewell. It was so emotional. Good grief, they were there 41 years!
We came home to having most all the cabinets installed and some beautiful trim work started on the stairs.
Day 89 -

Here are some pictures of Bentley meeting the neighbors. (They were taken through the glass, so they are a little blurry)

Very productive Memorial Day!

Today, being Memorial Day, we didn't think anything would happen over at the house. Boy were we mistaken! The cabinet maker was there installing about 2/3 of all the cabinets. They are absolutely gorgeous! He did a great job. The stucco guys stayed all day, in fact we passed them leaving at 6:45 as we were going back to check things out. They got it all primed and finished painting the latex layer with the house color in it. Now it should be completely waterproof. Tomorrow the interior painting will start and the rock work on the outside will get underway!
Day 83 -
The wine room.

Here are the girls and their cousin, Lauren, acting like they are puppies in a pet store! Too cute!
This is a view of the side.
This is the front now.

Cabinets, already?

Well, the cabinets are arriving today! They are a knotty alder wood, which has the knots throughout the wood. Sounds crazy, but that is what we love about this wood. Gives it character! It has a rustic feel. The rest of the stucco is getting painted today (Saturday) and then we can get the scaffolding taken down so that the mason work can start on Tuesday. They are also finishing the texturing inside today, and we will be ready for painting the walls and staining the cabinets on Tuesday also.
Day 81 -
Here are some pictures of the cabinets arriving.

One of the wine racks.

This is the mess that putting up stucco leaves behind.

This is the guys setting up the scaffolding on the back staircase to be able to texture the walls. Scary, huh?

Odds and Ends

Well, I hadn't posted in a while because there are just odds and ends happening. Like, finishing the stucco on the outside, what a process that is! and all the taping and floating of the seams of sheetrock. It took them several days to get it all done and they put on 3 or 4 layers. The texture for the walls started today and they should finish in the next day and a half. We are hoping to get all the interior paint done this weekend and the cabinets will come on Monday!!!!! Brandon still won't commit to a completion date. I think he is afraid of getting our hopes up and then something happens. But, we still ask him almost everyday, now he just smiles his laid back smile, like "you are not getting this info out of me!"
Day 77 - 11 weeks
Here is a great shot of the ceiling in Lee's study.

Day 78 -
This is a little hard to tell, but this is the texture that is going on most of the walls. It is a hand trowel finish. The color is the color of the mud that they use, this was still wet. Then, later it will get painted over.

This is the electricians digging the trench for the electric lines to the house. Click on the picture to make it bigger....that white tube back there....that is our water line! They had to pass under it twice! Tomorrow the gas people are coming to dig almost the same hole to lay the gas line, and it goes the deepest. They will have to go under both of these! UGH! I feel like I need to go babysit them tomorrow!

What? No garbage disposal?

Well, I might shrivel up and die without a garbage disposal! They are not recommended with septic systems. I guess I already knew that, I just didn't want to believe it!
Day 71 -
Here is the septic tank. I had no idea what they looked like.
This is the roofers at 7:00pm, frantically trying to finish the roof.

Sheetrock is done, let's keep moving!

They finished all the sheetrock on Friday. It's hard to believe they have done this whole house in 3 days! They will be back on Monday to tape and float the seams. The upper portions of the stucco are done and painted, now they can finish shingling the roof. I love the color, Lee is still undecided...but it is too late now!!!
Day - 66
This is the way to the guest room.
This is taken from in the kitchen, looking at the living room.
This is the ceiling in the master bath. It looks so neat and will have a chandelier that hangs in the middle.
Corinne took this picture. It is a little crooked, but she captured a great shot of the living room windows.
The back with the house color painted on it.

The girls.

Yeah for the walls!

Today, they completed the sheetrock for the second floor and got most all the downstairs ceilings done and about half way down the walls of the whole first floor. Man, these guys are fast! Should finish tomorrow and then it will be time for the taping and floating of the seams.
Day 65 -
This is the gameroom upstairs:

This is standing in the gameroom, looking towards Corinne's room.

This is the ceiling in the study, it will have trim on the insides of all the squares.
This is standing in the entry way looking up.
My precious alder beams. I just love them. They really stand out now.

There isn't anything wrong with the lens. Those dots are all the dust particles floating in the air from cutting the sheetrock all day!
Here is a close up of the stucco process. It still has a few layers to go. You can see the wire mesh, looks like chicken wire! This gives the stucco something to stick to.

Whoa! The sheetrock arrived!

Well, it took 2 - 18 wheelers to bring in all the sheetrock. There is tons of it!!
We are exactly 2 months, just 8 weeks into this project, and Brandon is still moving full force ahead!
Day - 63
Here is the living room:

The dining room:

The master bedroom:

This is another layer that goes up as part of the stucco process as seen on the back of the house.

They started hanging the the sheetrock today, got almost the entire 2nd floor done. But, it was too late after I got off of work to get any decent pictures. I will get some tomorrow and put up a new post!
